Can you hold a conversation in Vietnamese? How well can you read and write in Vietnamese? If you can talk decently in Vietnamese then it's not hard to learn how to read and write at all. It's 99% phonetic. You just have to learn a certain of amount of rules then you can pretty much pronounce and know how to spell every single words. It is that easy. They don't even teach spelling anymore after elementary school in Vietnam.

Anyway, chữ and từ are pretty much the same except when you use it with another word like "từ vựng" = vocabulary but chữ doesn't go with vựng. In a sense, chữ is literally translates as "word" and từ can mean "word" and encompass its meaning. And if you use "từ" as a preposition then it means "from." Hoặc means "or" and hay là could also mean "or" and another thing in an expression. It's hard to explain when it's better to use one than the other. It's one of those things in a language that you just have to use the language long enough to figure it out instinctively. Ok I will give an example of each and remember that these are just 2 examples out of many. "Would you like to eat an apple or a lemon" = this case both hay là and or are good. Second example: Person 1 said: "Hey let's go to the zoo." Person 2 said: "How about we go to the movie?" = "Hay là chúng ta đi xem phim đi?" You wouldn't say "Hoặc chúng ta đi xem phim đi." You can but most people don't; most people picked the "hay là." In this case, "hay là" is taken in place of "how about." Tôi có thể nói được tiếng Vịet mà hơi khó hiểu nhiều chử trong hết vocabulary của tiếng Viet, chắc là tại vì tôi lười quá với không có tập tàng gì hết. Như khi tôi không có đọc được bài tin tức trong tiếng Vịet, tháy nhiều chử khó hiểu. Trước khi tôi lên Wikipedia bằng gần năm 2010 với tìm đườc củng có một version Wikipedia trong tiếng Vịet và tiếng Anh luôn, trước khi tôi gập Mxn và thành viên Vịet khác, tôi không có biết là "danh sách" nghĩa là "list", hay "bản mẫu" nghĩa là "template", hay "thể loại" nghĩa là "category", hay "bảo quản viên" nghĩa là "administrator". Tôi đã để hộp Babel trên trang Meta-Wiki của tôi rồi cho chỉ là tôi chắc là nói đước level vi-2, mà chắc tiếng Vịet của tôi dở hơn tiếng Vịet của Mxn. Với tôi tháy Mxn có dictionary về nhiều máy chử Hán-Vịet mà tôi không biết về. That was all written without Google translate, and I left in words I did not know the Vietnamese equivalent for. Mxn seems pretty busy, so if you're bored you can hop on over to Meta-Wiki and review and copyedit/fix my translations there. Your Vietnamese level is not bad, about level 2 on the babel scale. I'm actually pretty busy also with real life issues. Plus, translating news in Meta was never my priority. After having a terrible experience in EnWikipedia, or perhaps the worst experience I ever had, frankly speaking I don't want to be involved in anywhere other than Vietnamese Wikis community where I feel much more comfortable and happier.Nguyentrongphu (thảo luận) 21:44, ngày 22 tháng 1 năm 2014 (UTC)
